Who we are
Pullman Memorial Universalist Church was established in 1894 and dedicated in 1895. Located at 10 E Park St in Albion NY, the church was constructed as a memorial to the parents of George M. Pullman, who came to prominence following his design and manufacturing of Pullman sleeper cars for use on long train rides in the 1890s. Our church features fifty-six original Tiffany windows and a Johnson & Son Pipe Organ still in use during Sunday services. Rooted in the Universalist Tradition, Pullman became a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association in 1961. As Unitarian Universalists, we believe in building inclusive communities based in love, living lives rooted in service, and grounding our values in the eight principles of Unitarian Universalism:
The inherent worth and dignity of all people
Justice, equity, and compassion in our interactions
Acceptance of ourselves and one another, and encouraging each other’s spiritual growth
Supporting the free and responsible search for truth and meaning
Supporting democracy
Improving the global community
Respecting the interdependent web of existence
Dismantling racism and oppression
At Pullman, we seek to support each other, build community, and find hope, truth, and meaning in our lives.
